Growing up Sunset
Pride in Your Community Comes with Knowing Its History
I have mounted 22 historic photos on stiff poster board and labeled them on their backs. I will loan them to schools, clubs, organizations in the Sunset Park area that are interested in sharing the history of Sunset Park.
I will include lesson plans so that you can easily use them as aids in a formal Dept of Education lesson.
The kids will be asked to collect information from the photos and discuss them with their team members (or partners) and come to conclusions. Then the class would compare conclusions and continue the learning process.
The more our kids know of their community - the more pride they will have and the greater chance for the confidence that leads to success.
There is NO charge for this. I do ask that you try your best to not lose cards or have them damaged - but I will not get angry if there is damage - stuff happens. Sadly, years ago Dan Natal and I loaned an attache case to schools with actual artifacts dug up in Sunset Park and at one point it was lost...so sad.
