Park Theater: My First Date

I went on my very first date to the Park Theater. Of course I was nervous. We went alone. I lived on 60th and 4th. We took the bus there and walked home which was tough on me. My mom made me wear a skirt and blouse and heels. Not me at all. The year was 1962, I was a month shy of being 14, he was older. It was a "Tammy & somebody" movie with Debbie Reynolds. I don't really remember which one. I met him through a friend. He asked my mom if he could take me out. She said yes. We dated around a year. He introduced me to music as I had never known it. He sang Doo Wop. Would sing with his friends under my window, and I lived on the 4th floor. It was a nice innocent time. Sandra Rivera Callari
