It is Time to Act !

I do ask for your help from time to time.

But on this issue, I need each and every one of you to step up.  No issue has ever been as clear as this.  I need you to read through this and then decide if you are going to step up.

The City has announced that it is going to run a free shuttle bus every ten minutes to bring the workers from the Brooklyn Navy Yard to 13 subway lines & the Long Island Railroad.

Every 10 minutes!

To 13 subway lines!

They are doing this because there are 7,000 workers at the Navy Yard and they hope to make it 16,000.

Why do we always hear things like this about other neighborhoods?

We have the

Brooklyn Army Terminal and Bush Terminal Campus and Liberty View Plaza.

(Unlike Industry City - you & I are the landlords of those three locations.)

And we also have a new waterfront park.

We are just asking for the extension of 3 bus lines - it would cost pennies to do this.

But no one is listening.

I tried to find out how many people work at the Brooklyn Army Terminal - but all the City will tell me is that Elvis Presley went into the military from there.

Our little inexpensive bus extensions (which has free transfers already) could bring thousands of workers to jobs on our waterfront, to NYU Lutheran Medical Center and to our park.

Why are the workers more valuable at the Navy Yard than in Sunset Park?

Why is the Mayor so hot & excited about a $2.5 billion dollar fixed-rail street car that would only benefit Industry City - which is owned by private foreign investors?

Our waterfront park

is difficult to reach.

Our waterfront businesses require a walk under the dark

& dangerous Gowanus and through more than

a dozen lanes

of truck traffic.

Don't our kids

deserve a break for once?

Why can other

neighborhoods get all

the positive things

and we get

garbage dumps & trucks?

I need to know that

you Sunset Parkers get it.

I need to know that you care.

Here is what I need you to do.

1. Send an email to each addresss below.

2. Ask:

Why is the Navy Yard with 7,000 employees getting a free shuttle bus every ten minutes to 13 bus lines and we can't get a few blocks extension to 3 existing bus lines to "open" up our waterfront?

Fernando Cruz will tell you -

Our waterfront is a place

of magic!

So I ask you to send those emails and then email me

so that I know you did it.
